Overview
On 25 April 2015, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal with its epicenter in Lamjung District, approximately 81 km northwest of Kathmandu. The earthquake caused several landslides and avalanches, with strong aftershocks occurring in the following days.
The Nepal government said 16 districts were most affected by the earthquake, including Makawanpur district. According to the latest figures from the DHO/Rapid Response Team, 17,053 houses were fully damaged (including 23 health facilities), 17,620 houses were partially damaged, 35 people were killed and 101 people were injured or fractured. Different government sectors, INGOs, NGOs and other line agencies have been involved in conducting support services.
